'Among Us' game, is a cross-platform player-versus-player social deduction game world based on the original Among Us game by Innersloth[1] that can be played with between 4-15 players. Players are assigned one of two roles, the crewmates whose goal is to survive complete tasks, and find out who the impostor is, and the impostor whose goal is to sabotage and kill all the crewmates.

Impostors

At the start of the game, 1 - 3 players will be chosen to be Impostors. The goal of the Impostors is to kill all the crewmates and prevent crewmates from completing their tasks, they have a variety of tools to help them do this.

The most direct way to eliminate a crewmate is to kill them, to do this an impostor must be close and then press the controller trigger in VR or click the left mouse button on desktop. This instantly kills the crewmate but plays a sound that other crewmates can hear and leaves a chalk outline that crewmates can interact with to call a meeting without using an emergency meeting.

The impostor can sabotage parts of the map using the sabotage menu by pressing Jump in VR or Q on desktop. In this menu, the impostor can: close doors, darken the map by disabling lights, disable the HUD by sabotaging communications, or activate a reactor meltdown/O2 depletion giving the crewmates 30 seconds to fix it or die. Each sabotage except the doors needs to be repaired by going to its associated location on the map and completing a mini-game.

Vents give the impostor a way to move around the map without being seen by other players, this can be used to escape detection after killing someone or to give the impostor a faster way around the map.

Crewmates

At the start of the game players that are not chosen to be Impostors will become Crewmates. The crewmates win if they complete all tasks or vote out all impostors.

The crewmates have tasks to complete which are marked on the HUD, each task requires the player to complete a small minigame associated with that task, if the 'Visual Tasks' Modifier is enabled some tasks will have a visual element that other players can see, since impostors cannot do any tasks this clears that player of suspicion.

Crewmates can also vote out people they think are the impostor, to do this they must call an Emergency meeting or Report a dead body causing a meeting, they must then convince the other players that the person they think is the impostor is the impostor however this can cause them to accidentally kill another crewmate.

Emergency meetings

Emergency meetings can be called by players at any time by pressing the emergency button in the cafeteria a meeting will last as long as is set in the 'Voting Time' game modifier.

During a meeting, the crewmates must work out who is an impostor based on everyone's word, while the impostors have to try to fake innocence so they don't get voted out. The impostors can try to lie to make someone else seem guilty to get them voted out instead.

During the meeting, everyone will be able to either vote on one player to be ejected or to skip using their vote. If a player has a majority of all votes against them they will be ejected, which kills them.

If all impostors are voted out the crewmates will win, however, players can only see if another player was an impostor if they have the 'confirm eject' modifier enabled.

Trivia

  • The laptop in the waiting room has several crewmate avatars for you to use in-game if you choose.
  • Supporting Jar on Patreon gives you a gold body outline when you die and a sparkly name in meetings.
