Persona opera in conformità con il Data Processing Agreement (DPA) con VRChat, che richiede a Persona di operare seguendo il GDPR/CCPA per tutti gli utenti, a discapito della locazione[6].

Marcatore profilo

Opzioni profilo per selezionare quale marcatore mostrare pubblicamente.

Gli utenti con età verificata possono scegliere se mostrare il marcatore d'età sul loro profilo. Ci sono due versione che un utente con età verificata può scegliere:

  • "Età Verificata" che tutti gli utenti con età verificata possono usare.
  • "Maggiorenne Verificato" che può esser utilizzato solo da utenti i quali hanno verificato la loro età e risultano maggiorenni.

Il marcatore può essere anche nascosto nel caso l'utente non voglia mostrare di aver verificato la propria età, ma, a discapito di quale è mostrato, coloro di età verificata maggiorenne, potranno sempre entrare in istanze con limiti d'età.

L'icona a scudo della verifica dell'età non indica da sé la maggiore età di un utente, ma solo che ha verificato la propria età. Utenti minorenni (ma che hanno compiuto 13 anni) possono verificare la loro età con Persona, ma non potranno selezionare il marcatore Maggiorenne Verificato sul loro profilo o accedere a istanze con limiti d'età, fino al raggiungimento della maggiore età.

Istanze con limiti di età

I Gruppi possono creare istanze con restrizioni per utenti di età pari o superiore a 18 anni, che richiedono che tutti i partecipanti abbiano verificato l'età e abbiano compiuto 18 anni per partecipare. Queste restrizioni possono essere applicate alle istanze Pubbliche, Gruppo+ o Gruppo. Le istanze con restrizioni per utenti di età pari o superiore a 18 anni verranno sempre visualizzate in cima all'elenco delle istanze se l'utente ha verificato l'età pari o superiore a 18 anni.

La verifica dell'età funzionerà insieme al Content Gating per impedire agli utenti non verificati e agli utenti verificati di età inferiore ai 18 anni di accedere a contenuti contrassegnati con "Sessualmente allusivi" e "Linguaggio e temi per adulti". Ciò dovrebbe avvenire nella prima metà del 2026.[7][8].

Rilascio

La funzionalità era originariamente limitata a vari gruppi selezionati nel periodo di prova, dove solo alcuni membri potevano richiedere di verificare la propria età e creare istanze con limiti d'età[1].

Il primo rilascio è iniziato il 1° Dicembre, 2024, molteplici gruppi furono selezionati e dati accesso alla verifica d'età.

Il 28 Gennaio, 2025 la funzionalità fu rilasciata agli abbonati a VRC+ come funzionalità di Accesso Anticipato. Attualmente non è stata fornita una data in cui sarà resa accessibile anche ai non abbonati.

Informazioni Aggiuntive

  • Requisiti Verifica: gli utenti devono inviare una foto del documento originale perché sia accettata dal sistema, insieme al completare una "verifica appurativa" che richiede un selfie della persona che sta compiendo la verifica così da capire se sia la stessa del documento[9].
  • Opzionale: la verifica dell'età non è obbligatoria per giocare a VRChat. Questa, però, conferisce accesso a istanze con limiti d'età e funzionalità per cui un utente deve verificare la propria età ed essere maggiorenne[10].
  • Gestione Dati: i dati inerenti al documento caricato sono conservati da Persona per il tempo minimo necessario per verificare la data di nascita dell'utente e per creare un hash crittografico univoco e non risalibile all'utente (one-way), tramite i dati forniti dall'utente. Questo hash è immagazzinato permanentemente nei server di VRChat, associato all'account dell'utente, con i dati nei server di Persona eliminati.[11]
    • Note: eliminare i dati inerenti alla verifica dell'età contenuti in VRChat renderà impossibile l'accesso all'account finché l'utente non riaccetta i Termini di Servizio e reinserisce la propria data di nascita. Questo inoltre rimuove il marcatore di verifica d'età dall'account fino alla riverifica.
  • Un Documento per Account: un documento identificativo non può verificare molteplici account. Questa restrizione è posta per aumentare la veridicità delle verifiche del sistema, e incoraggiare gli utenti a porre più valore nei propri account, e assumere un comportamento più consono[12].
  • 18+ ≠ Contenuto Sessualmente Esplicito: la verifica della maggiore età o le istanze con limiti di età non violano i Termini di Servizio o le Linee guida della Comunità in merito al contenuto pornografico.
