Music culture, and dance culture have a prominent scene in VRChat. The music scene includes community-created, and VRChat-partnered music events, and groups taking place in real time, inside of worlds designed as nightclubs or venues, to mimic the feeling of being at a similar venue in real life.
In these events, VRChat users designate themselves as disc jockeys (DJs), who can control physical DJ hardware, and simultaneously broadcast their DJ mixes into the world via Open Sound Control, or dedicated hardware, often using livestreaming services like Twitch, or VRCDN, in conjunction with a video player. In contrast, attendees come to listen to the music, and dance to it, sometimes with full-body tracking (FBT) peripherals, to move their legs and other limbs.
Some music events can also include live singing, karaoke, and group dancing.
Dancing, and full-body tracking (FBT)
See also Full-Body Tracking for more detailed information.

Users in VRChat can make their avatar dance by either applying animations on an avatar when uploading it with the VRChat SDK, or by physically dancing while in VR. Users are able to move around their head, and hands. Leg movement by default, is very limited - however, users can acquire and connect full-body tracking peripherals to VRChat, to move more of their body around.
Choosing to dance solo, at events with friends, or putting on a dance performance is entirely up to you! There are also worlds that can guide you with dance moves if you're unsure where to start. Additionally, there are MMD worlds that will synchronize your avatar dancing to a song.
DJ'ing in VRChat
See also Guides:DJing in VRChat for more detailed information.
Disc jockeys are able to use DJ software with a MIDI controller, or dedicated hardware to mix music, and play it for VRChat users. Ideally, users who DJ will choose to stream their music through a video player, which additionally allows the DJ to add visuals to the screen.
