Overview of VR Chess and some of its Chess Boards

The main attraction is the chess boards, which are scattered all across a modern house interior. There are two stories, the second of which has an internal balcony hanging over the main area.

Chess Boards

A Chess Match is being played on one of the Chess Boards

Each Chess Board found in VR Chess comes with extensive customization options.

Game Modes

Besides Standard Chess, the modes Atomic Chess, Chess 960, Fog of War (aka. Dark Chess) and Crazyhouse may be chosen before starting the game.

Blitz Clock

The default clock is set at 10 Minutes for each player. It can also be set to 15:00, 30:00, and 60:00 and an additional Increment of +2, +5, or +10 seconds can be set. A game may also be played without any Clock.

Visuals and Sound

Each Chess Board has 3 different themes to pick from, which come in the form of a high-contrast default board, a marble board, and a wooden board. The sound is on by default and may be turned off before starting a match.

Spectate

To better observe an ongoing match, anyone may enable a spectator mode, which opens up a large 2D view of the live board with all the pieces.

Rating selection

While not found on each board itself, a Player rating will show up on their play side, if set upon joining. This rating is set manually, but setting it truthfully helps to find matching opponents.
