When any number of Organizer positions are available, a formal call will be made for applications along with a deadline of two weeks. Maintainers can put themselves forward by way of creating a discussion topic in which they make a case for themselves, which all Maintainers can comment on, and a simple thumbs up/down on the main post can be used to tally endorsements/disapprovals. All Maintainers/Organizers are eligible to comment and vote, including on their own nomination and others'. Once the deadline is reached the voting threads will be locked and votes recorded, and then counted as the sum of thumbs up minus thumbs down. The applicants with the most support will be considered approved, up to the number of positions available. Ties can be broken by existing Organizer/VRC Staff discussion/consensus. VRC Staff also reserve the right to veto a candidate at their discretion.
