Profile Markers

Age verification is a social feature that allows users to verify their age using the third-party service Persona. Users who are verified can display an age verification marker on their profile; verified users who are 18 or older can gain access to age-restricted instances. It was announced November 27, 2024 on the official VRChat YouTube channel[1].

The verification process is currently available in early access, for all VRChat+ subscribers as of January 28, 2025[2].

Process

The age verification process is conducted through Persona — a third-party verification provider. Users provide a government-issued ID[3] and use a camera-enabled device, such as a smartphone, or computer with a webcam, to complete the process.

Just about any form of government identification can be used depending on the country the user is from, such as, but not limited to:

  • Drivers License
  • Identification Card
  • Passport
  • Passport Card

经过验证的用户可以选择在个人资料上显示一个标记，表明他们的年龄验证状态。经过验证的用户可以随时选择两种版本的标记：

  • "Age Verified"（年龄验证通过），任何通过年龄验证的用户都可以使用，无论年龄多少。
  • "Verified 18+"（验证18+），仅限已通过年龄验证且年满18岁的用户使用。

如果用户不希望将验证状态公开，可以选择完全隐藏该标记。年满18岁的已验证用户始终可以访问年龄限制的实例，无论他们的个人资料上公开显示哪个验证标记。

仅仅拥有“Age Verified”标记并不表示用户年满18岁，仅表示他们已经验证了自己的年龄。未满18岁的用户（但必须年满13岁以上）可以通过Persona验证年龄，但在年满18岁之前，他们无法在个人资料上选择“Verified 18+”标记，也无法访问年龄限制的实例。
