Turbo
Turbo required meter that is gained from time out of water, drifting, or the Turbo Fuel item. Turbo increases your max speed and acceleration for a brief period. It doesn't stack with boost rings but does stack with water landing speedboosts.
Drift
Drifting locks you into turning in the initial direction until you let go of the Lean Button. While drifting, you can turn into the drift to turn faster or out of the drift to turn slower. You gain a speedboost based on how long you hold the drift as well as turbo fuel.
Lean
Leaning will gradually reduce your speed, buy allows you to jump off waves easier. Landing in water will give you a speedboost. You gain turbo fuel for the duration you are in the air.
