This will show the camera's perspective in the VRChat desktop window, instead of the point of view of the user.

  • Print Camera:

Similar function to the Photo Camera, but you are able to print out the picture taken.

  • Icon Camera (Available for VRC+ only):

Use this to take a photo that is saved to their Gallery to use for their nameplate and Group icons.

  • Gallery Camera (Available for VRC+ only):

Use this to take a photo that is saved to their Gallery to put on their profile, Group banners and invite photos.

  • Screenshot:

Desktop users can take a Screenshot here that is saved to their VRChat photo folder on their hard drive.

Can also be used by pressing the F12 key for a regular screenshot or Ctrl+F12 for a high resolution screenshot.

  • Multilayer Camera:

Takes several pictures in quick succession with different layers applied, but does not support focus or filters and may cause frame lag.

It will generate three type of photos including "All-in-One", "Environment Layer Only" and "Local User Layer + Remote User Layer Only".

  • Invite Photo Camera (Available for VRC+ only):

Optionally take a photo to send along with an invite or a response.

UI

Overview of the VRChat Camera.

The camera UI includes several icons and indicators:

  • X in the top left: Exit the camera.
  • Camera and photo icons: Indicate which camera is active.
  • Pin icon: Indicates the active pin (saved settings).
  • Focus icon: Indicates if focus is used and which focus mode is selected.
  • Filter circles: Show whether a filter is applied or not and which filter is selected.
  • Turning circle on top center: Indicates whether the camera is facing away or towards you.
  • Turning arrow on the right: Resets the zoom level.
  • Zoom line on the right: Adjusts zoom; move it down for zooming out (fisheye lens) and up for zooming in.
  • Arrow at the bottom: Collapses the menu.

Menu

  • Take Photo: Takes a photo immediately.
  • Timed (5s): Takes a photo after a 5-second delay with a countdown sound.
  • Camera Mode: Expands different modes for the camera.
    • Local Photo, Multi Layer, Stream
      • VRC+ exclusive: Gallery Photo, User Icon, Sticker, Prints, Emoji
  • Anchor: Determines where the camera is attached.
    • Default: Attached to the user.
    • Local: Follows user movement but not head movement.
    • World: Attached to the world, independent of user movement.
  • Behavior: Adjusts camera performance.
    • Smoothed: Stabilizes video for smoother footage.
    • Look at Me: Camera follows where your head is facing.
    • Auto Level: Keeps the camera level, preventing tilting.
  • Focus: Controls the focus mode.
    • Full Auto: Automatically sets the aperture and focal distance.
    • Semi Auto: Allows adjustment of aperture only.
    • Manual: Allows adjustment of both aperture and focal distance.
  • Pins: Saved settings for focus and filter configurations.
  • Mask: Determines which layers are included in pictures.
    • Local User: Includes the user and their avatar.
    • Remote User: Includes other users.

    • Off: Shows only a small light.
    • Ghost: Displays a light blue transparent camera lens.
    • Solid: Displays a solid camera lens.
  • Filters: Adds visual filters to the camera. Only one filter can be active at a time.
  • Photo Resolution: Sets the photo resolution. Higher resolutions create larger files and may cause frame lag.
  • Grid: Overlays a 3x3 grid on the camera screen for visual assistance. The grid does not appear in the actual picture.
  • Lock (VR Only): Lock the camera so that it cannot be held. This can only be used in VR.
  • Fly Mode: The camera can be manually controlled within proximity to yourself. Holding down the scroll wheel on desktop, and using a combination of mouse movement and 'WASD' keys will pilot the camera around. In VR, clicking the "Fly" button and using the left and right joysticks after pressing the trigger will toggle movement between the camera, and your avatar.

Manual controls

When focus is put to semi auto or manual additional controls show up.

  • Focal Distance: At which distance the camera is focused to.
  • Aperture: How open the aperture is, the lower this number the more blur appears on everything that is not in focus.

Camera Dolly

See also Camera Dolly for more detailed information.

The camera dolly is a VRC+ exclusive system that allows you to create and play animations for the VRChat camera.

Hint: Access to the Camera Dolly, allows you to unlock a further camera fly range after you toggle the camera dolly on and off once.

Camera Drone

See also Camera Drone for more detailed information.

The camera drone is VRC+ exclusive. It serves as a fully-functional drone that you can pilot within VRChat, either for recording purposes or simply to fly around and have fun with friends.

Accessing saved photos

  • Windows operating systems will store VRChat photos using the default file path of the Pictures folder C:/Users/(Owner)/Pictures/VRChat. Photographs will be sorted by month and year. On desktop and PCVR versions of VRChat, opening the Camera tab in the Quick Menu and choosing "Open Photos Folder" will directly open the File Explorer to that file path.
  • Steam users can access their Steam screenshots, separate from VRChat photos using the default file path C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/XXXXXXXXX/760/remote/438100/screenshots
  • Standalone Quest users can access their photos through the Quest's Files app on the system dashboard or through the Oculus app on their phone or other device if synced.
  • Mobile Android and iOS devices can access their VRChat photos through the Gallery app, or from the Files app on their device.
