Account merging
This article highlights the process of merging an existing platform account to a regular VRChat account.
Platform accounts include pre-existing VRChat on the following devices:
- Steam
- Meta
- Oculus
- Viveport
- PICO
Benefits of a Full VRChat Account
A full VRChat account enables users to:
- Earn Trust Ranks
- Retain the simplicity of one-click logins
- Apply to enroll in the Creator Economy Program
- Gain access to Login
- Gain authorization access on platforms with VRChat SSO
- VRChat Feedback Board
- VRChat Ask Forums
- VRChat Wiki
- Third-party vendors that utilize VRChat SSO
Pre-Merge Considerations
Favorites Limit
Upon merging, if the total number of favorites from both accounts exceeds the platform's maximum limit, users may retain more favorites than typically allowed. However, to add new favorites, users must remove existing ones to fit within the limit.
Purchase Restrictions
Users who have made purchases through the Creator Economy on any platform (Steam, Meta, Viveport, Pico) cannot merge their accounts into a full VRChat account. This restriction is temporary and expected to be lifted.
Merging Process
To merge a platform account into a full VRChat account, follow these steps:
- Log into the Steam, Meta, Pico, or Viveport account you wish to merge.
- Open the Main Menu in VRChat.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Locate and click the Upgrade Account button below the Exit option.
- If the Upgrade Account button is not visible, you are already logged into a full VRChat account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link your account.
Post-Merge
Linking is permanent and irreversible. It can take up to one day for account data to fully merge. For any issues during or after the process, contact VRChat support at VRChat Support.
Limitations
Each full VRChat account can be linked to one account from each supported platform simultaneously.
