For the latest Lunar New Year, see Lunar New Year 2026.

Lunar New Year 2026 was a limited-time Shop promotion by VRChat, tied to the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse.[1][2] It added a themed shelf of items, portals, a warp effect, stickers, and emojis. A free VRC+-exclusive credit bundle styled as a "Lucky Red Envelope" was also part of the promotion. It was the first Lunar New Year promotion in VRChat to include purchasable Shop items; the previous year's celebration in early 2025 (Year of the Snake) had offered only a free limited-time sticker set.[3]

The promotion marked the Year of the Horse with new Shop content.[1] Themed listings on the Lunar New Year shelf ran from February 17, 2026 through April 1, 2026, with lower prices on paid items for VRC+ subscribers. The February 17, 2026 YouTube video "honse update | VRChat Shop Refresh!" presented the Shop update,[1] and the February 19, 2026 Developer Update on ask.vrchat.com covering the promotion.[2]

The video ran about one minute 23 seconds, showed each item in the promotion, and featured LazyTheDinoKing and InviaWaffles.[1] Its description listed the drop as including "a new Portal, Warp Effect, Premium Emoji's, Premium Stickers and 3 new items: Lucky Coin, Firecrackers & Pallet Drum."[1]

The Lucky Red Envelope was later offered on its own as a free Shop redemption for VRC+ subscribers for a limited time,[4] granting VRChat credits icon399. The same day, VRChat's Threads account posted about the envelope.[5]

The envelope was first set to grant VRChat credits icon400, but the reward was changed to VRChat credits icon399 before broader availability. The reduction reflected tetraphobia: in some East Asian cultures the word for "four" sounds like the word for "death."[6] Some users who redeemed on February 19, 2026, before the change, received VRChat credits icon400 instead of 399.[7] Per Shop listing data, the Lucky Red Envelope was listed from February 18, 2026 through April 1, 2026.

Shop items

The Lunar New Year shelf included the following listings. All paid items were available from February 17, 2026 through April 1, 2026; the Lucky Red Envelope was listed from February 18, 2026 through April 1, 2026.

Descrições dos Itens

The promotional video showed the Festival Gate as a traditional paifang that served as a portal. The Good Fortune Coin carried a horse design and could be flipped. The Firecrackers were interactive and produced explosions. The Pellet Drum (also called a den-den daiko) could be spun to produce sound. The Lucky Lantern surrounded warp with a swirl of floating lanterns as the user appeared or disappeared.[1]
