Steam Audio is a real-time spatial audio solution developed by Valve Corporation. It simulates how sound waves travel, reflect, and occlude in three-dimensional environments. By leveraging geometry-based propagation and Head-Related Transfer Functions, it delivers immersive audio experiences.Its features include occlusion modeling, dynamic reverb, and virtual surround sound. Steam Audio switched to an Open Source Model in Feb 2024[1].

First Closed Beta Release was 18 December 2020[2]. First Public Announcement 13 February 2025[3].
