Music culture, and dance culture have a prominent scene in VRChat. The music scene includes community-created, and VRChat-partnered music events, and groups taking place in real real, inside of worlds designed as nightclubs or venues, to mimic the feeling of being at a similar venue in real life.

In these events, VRChat users designate themselves as disc jockeys (DJs), who can control physical DJ hardware, and simultaneously broadcast their DJ mixes into the world via Open Sound Control. often using livestreaming services like Twitch, or VRCDN, in conjunction with a video player. In contrast, attendees come to listen to the music, and dance to it, sometimes with full-body tracking (FBT) peripherals, to move their legs and other limbs.

Some music events can also include live singing, karaoke, and group dancing.
