VRCNext is a third-party VRChat launcher and management application for Windows. It provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for interacting with VRChat through its REST API and WebSocket connections.

As of March 2026, a Linux port is in development, with an early build available for several Linux distributions[1].

Features

Friends and social

  • View friends by status (favorites, in-game, web/active, offline) with collapsible sections.
  • Add notes, check mutual friends, and view trust rank badges on friend cards.
  • Block, mute, or unfriend users from their profile.
  • Search and filter the friends list by name in real time.
  • Send simple messages to friends using VRChat's InviteMessage and ResponseMessage system (rate-limited).
  • Invite multiple friends to an instance at once with rate-limiting safeguards and a progress bar.
  • Track when meetings with other users first occurred and when they recur. Log instance and world entries, and when photos were taken. A friends timeline shows online/offline status changes, bio updates, and world movement in real time.
  • Track time spent with individual users and in specific worlds. Data is stored locally on the user's machine.

Worlds and instances

  • Search for worlds and view active instances with player counts, region, and type.
  • Create instances outside of VRChat, including group instances (Group Public, Group, Group+).
  • See which friends are in a world and which instance they are in.
  • View world details such as player count, favorites, visits, capacity, and tags.
  • Manage favorited worlds and rename favorite groups.
  • View all players in the current instance. Open profiles or add players as friends from the instance view.
  • View a real-time overview of friends' current worlds and activity (dashboard). Click world cards to see which friends are in each instance.

Avatars

  • Change avatars before launching VRChat.
  • Browse uploaded avatars and favorited avatars organized by group.
  • Search for public avatars via avtrdb.com and the Rose Database.
  • Platform compatibility badges (PC/Quest) are displayed on avatar cards.

Groups

  • View, join, leave, and search for groups.
  • See group posts, image galleries, and updates.
  • Create group posts with media attachments.
  • Create group instances directly from the application.
  • Browse upcoming VRChat events in a monthly calendar view. Filter by all, featured, or followed events.

Profile

  • Change online status, status text, biography, pronouns, languages, and social links.
  • Update profile picture and banner image.

Notifications

  • View and respond to friend requests, instance invites, and group invites.
  • Real-time toast notifications appear for various event types and can be acted on directly.

Media and photos

  • View VRChat images sorted by date and time. Favorite, delete, or blur sensitive images.
  • Add custom folders for external media such as OBS recordings.
  • View world metadata for images taken with VRCCam (requires Meta Data enabled).
  • Automatically send VRChat photos to Discord channels via webhooks. Configure up to four webhooks with custom bot names and avatars.

Integration and utilities

  • Display custom text, current Spotify or iTunes track, AFK status, system stats, local time, or session duration in the VRChat chatbox (chatbox relay). Supports a live preview with character counter and configurable update rate.
  • Control avatar parameters directly via Open Sound Control (OSC). Supports Bool, Int, and Float parameter types with filtering and search.
  • Access a VR overlay with a Friends tab showing online in-game friends with status, world name, and quick invite. World Location tab displays current instance information.
  • Launch VRChat and companion applications (e.g. SlimeVR, VRCFaceTracking) together from VRCNext.
  • Install and manage VRCVideoCacher, a tool that addresses YouTube video playback issues in VRChat worlds.
  • Voice-triggered soundboard powered by offline VOSK speech recognition. Assign audio files (WAV, MP3, OGG) to trigger words or phrases with per-keyword cooldowns (Voice Fight).
  • Adjust the VR play space using the grip button or control stick, with lockable axes and adjustable drag multiplier (Space Flight).
