Community:Cafe Leblanc
Cafe Leblanc is a cross-platform hangout world created in 2019 by bladewild, and managed by [Jmelt] Kurisu. The world is a recreation of Cafe Leblanc from the 2016 JRPG video game Persona 5.
Overview
The world features both the dining area and upper bedroom as seen in the original game, and a hidden entrance to the Velvet Room (in the bathroom). The world has become a mainstay and regular gathering place for VRChat's community of Persona fans.
There are two alleyways across from the cafe. One has an area that leads to other Persona community worlds, as well as an advertisement for an indie game. The other alleyway is further away from the cafe and features a rough timeline of the history of the Cafe Leblanc world, as well as a timeline of the world's patchnotes and improvements.
The buttons behind Sojiro, offer various collider toggles for full-body users, including a joke "floor toggle" that causes the player to fall through the floor and respawn. Chairs can be toggled by clicking on Joker's schoolbag in the upstairs bedroom.
Source material
In Persona 5, Cafe Leblanc serves as home for the protagonist (also referred to as "Joker"), after he's framed for a crime he didn't commit, and is sent to Tokyo to attend high school while on probation. Cafe owner 'Sojiro Sakura', becomes Joker's guardian figure and lets him sleep in the cafe's upstairs bedroom. Throughout the game, the cafe is a regular hiding spot for the 'Phantom Thieves of Hearts', and becomes their official base of operations.
Trivia
- The TV in the dining area plays both official Persona series trailers, and Persona community memes.
- A Jack Frost doll found in the Velvet Room can be clicked on, and will cause a random portal to spawn leading to other Persona-related worlds.
- Clicking on the headphones above the desk in the bedroom will toggle a playlist of music from Persona 5: Dancing Star Night.
- The mirror in the bedroom was originally toggled by clicking on a pair of glasses next to the potted plant, but is now toggled by clicking on the wall directly. The glasses are still there and can be clicked on, but now do nothing.
- A sealed envelope with the Super Smash Bros. emblem on it can be found on a shelf in the bedroom, referencing Joker's inclusion[1] in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
- A Nintendo Switch can be found next to the CRT television in the bedroom, which can be interacted with. The screen shows a recreation of the original game's UI with custom dialogue, and loops endlessly with the player only able to press the A button.
Easter eggs
- Walking through Velvet Room cells 0, 4, 5, and 1 subsequently will cause all NPCs in the world to wear yellow Crocs, which are a recurring joke throughout all of [Jmelt] Kurisu's worlds.
- Placing a cup on Igor's desk in the Velvet Room will cause a small version of Joker's starting Persona, 'Arsène' to spawn. Offering additional cups will cause Arsène to grow larger.
- A small figurine of internet meme Kekcroc[2] can be found in the back of the bedroom, and clicking on it will spawn a portal to an unlisted puzzle world made by [Jmelt] Kurisu. Another figurine can also be found that serves as an alternate entrance to the Velvet Room.
