Introduced in the Identity Update, user profiles are a personalized space where information is displayed about a user. Information on a user's profile includes status, trust rank, pronouns, bio, current instance (if applicable), languages they speak, social links, badges they own, and the groups they're in.

Statuses
<!--T:5-->
Statuses can be set in the Quick Menu, Main Menu, or on the https://vrchat.com/home and are used for the following: to control how easily a user's friends can join their instance; to vary whether a user's friends can see the instance they are currently in; to silence notifications; and to communicate an activity.
Under a user's profile, there are several actions you can take - such as sending a friend request or an invite to an instance.

Statuses consist of a color as well as a customizable short sentence (up to 32 characters). There are four different statuses in VRChat:

Mutuals are a feature that allows the user to view mutual friends or groups of other users.

<!--T:78-->
There are two ways to see mutuals, in the Quick Menu or the Main Menu with a button "Show X Mutuals". In the Quick Menu, the button can be found on top of user actions. In the Main Menu, the button will be found on the top right, next to the report button.

<!--T:80-->
If you wish to prevent other users from seeing your mutual friends and groups or appearing as so for others, you can turn off "Show Mutual Connections" in the Comfort & Safety section of your settings in the Main Menu. Doing so will change the text of the button from "Show X Mutuals" to "No Known Mutuals". Additionally, your user icon will be hidden, and your username will appear as "Hidden Mutual" when you appear in the mutuals in one of your friends.

==Discord Friends== <!--T:83-->

<!--T:84-->
Seen in the Social tab under "All Friends", this feature allows you to see your Discord friends with their current status and to perform different actions. Friends with a Discord account linked will have a Discord icon displayed on their profile

<!--T:85-->
If your friend has linked their Discord account to their VRChat account, you will be able to invite them to join your instance through Discord. Otherwise, you will be able to invite them to create a VRChat account. You or your friends may prevent your VRChat account from being shown in the Discord section by turning off the "Allow Discord Friends" setting in the Comfort & Safety section of the settings.

VRChat comes with a whole host of social tools for users. Such as friends, invites, notes, and more!

User profiles

VRChat's User Profile.

Introduced in the Identity Update, user profiles are a personalized space where information is displayed about a user. Information on a user's profile includes status, trust rank, pronouns, bio, current instance (if applicable), languages they speak, social links, badges they own, and the groups they're in.

Under a user's profile, there are several actions you can take - such as sending a friend request or an invite to an instance.

Statuses

Statuses can be set in the Quick Menu, Main Menu, or on the VRChat Website and are used for the following: to control how easily a user's friends can join their instance, to vary whether a user's friends can see the instance they are currently in, to silence notifications, and to communicate an activity.

Statuses consist of a color and a customizable short sentence (up to 32 characters). There are four different statuses in VRChat:

Status Description
Join Me (Blue)
Your friends can see the instance you are in and may join freely with identical rules to Online status.

However, if the instance is private and unviewable, all invite requests from friends are automatically accepted as long as you have permission to accept them.

Online (Green)
Your friends can see the instance you are in and can join your instance without an invitation.

However, your friends may not see or join the instance without an invite if the instance is deemed "private". Your instance is viewable and joinable by friends without requesting an invite in the following cases:

 • The instance is Friends+, Group+, Public, or Group Public.
 • The instance is Friends and either you or a mutual friend are the instance creator.
 • The instance is Group and your friends are a member of the group with permission to join the instance based on their group roles.
 • The instance is Invite or Invite+ and your friends are returning to the instance they created.
Ask Me (Orange)
Your friends cannot see the instance you are in.

They must request an invite from you to be able to join, regardless of the instance's privacy.

Do Not Disturb (Red)
Your friends cannot see the instance you are in. They may request to join, but you will not receive any notifications. In fact, you won't be able to send or request any invites to your friends within the game if they are in that status.
 • Incoming friend requests are delivered quietly to the "Friend Requests" Inbox.
 • A response for a request (ex. invite request) you send out, will be displayed.
 • Group notifications are disabled.

Pronouns

Pronouns can be displayed on one's bio to indicate to others how to refer to them. When set, pronouns will be displayed on your bio, and also displayed under your nameplate.

Bio

The bio (abbreviation for biography) is a paragraph of text written by the user that is generally used to describe or introduce themselves but can be used for any purpose. The bio can be up to 500 characters long.

Currently, emoji and some special symbols(e.g. fractions) are not supported. Some known special characters that are allowed are:

Friends

V · EThis page is a stub.
You can help the VRChat Wiki by improving it.
[Reason: Add quirks that have to do with friends and such.]

Friends on VRChat are other users that you trust, it acts much like how friending users on other platforms work, you can see whenever that user is online or on the website, send and receive invites from them, and add notes to them. Friends inside of your instance will have their name appear in yellow, and will also have their rank appear in yellow with a (Friend) indicator.

Mutuals

Mutuals are a feature that allows the user to view mutual friends or groups of other users.

There are two ways to see mutuals, in the Quick Menu or the Main Menu with a button "Show X Mutuals". In the Quick Menu, the button can be found on top of user actions. In the Main Menu, the button will be found on the top right, next to the report button.

Discord Friends

Seen in the Social tab under "All Friends", this feature allows you to see your Discord friends with their current status and to perform different actions. Friends with a Discord account linked will have a Discord icon displayed on their profile
