=== Automoderated users ===
[https://wiki.vrchat.com/wiki/Special:ListUsers?username=&group=community-mod&wpsubmit=&wpFormIdentifier=mw-listusers-form&limit=50 Maintainers] are considered a part of the VRC Wiki team, and as such have a higher degree of expectation/responsibility. They have the power to add/edit/delete in almost all content spaces (short of certain protected wiki spaces), to approve edits by users, to moderate users for misconduct, and to grant Automoderated User and Proofreader status. They are also involved in the decision making process when it comes to determining policy, nominating new Maintainers, and choosing from among themselves the Organizers.
[https://wiki.vrchat.com/wiki/Special:ListUsers?username=&group=automoderated&wpsubmit=&wpFormIdentifier=mw-listusers-form&limit=50 Automoderated users] are users who have shown their investment in the VRChat Wiki, and displayed trustworthiness through consistently adding to the VRCWiki while following policies and guidelines. They are specifically selected to have their additions or edits automatically approved in the Official namespace - these pages are official VRChat information pages. Otherwise, users who are automoderated do not have any moderation capabilities, or further Wiki responsibilities.
=== Qualifications ===
Generally speaking Maintainers should be chosen from those who have demonstrated a consistent and active investment in the wiki, both in direct contributions as well as in discussions on the talk pages and/or Discord. They should be exemplary in their dedication to keeping with policy, and in showing themselves to be trustworthy and responsible. They should not have any major infractions, and no major substantial objections from Maintainers. VRC Staff have veto power.
=== Responsibilities ===
Maintainers are able to freely edit the official spaces, protect pages, grant Automoderated User status, sanction/ban users, delete articles, and approve changes that are in the moderation queue, all according to the established policies. Maintainers are responsible for the health of the wiki, should take the initiative in bringing up discussions and carrying out plans for its improvement, and are involved in determining and upholding wiki policy, as well as choosing prospective Organizers from among themselves.
=== Expectations ===
Maintainers should remain reasonably active on the wiki, both in contributions and moderation responsibilities, as well as being involved in discussions on the Discord and talk pages, and to attend meetings when they can. As a volunteer position there's no explicit minimums, but after general inactivity for a period of two months of unannounced absence, the Maintainer may be approached by an Organizer to see if they're still interested in upholding the role. If not, or if there's no response or no change is seen over the following two weeks, they may be removed from the position. If they return and wish to be reinstated they can request for such, and unless there's a major substantial objection it will be granted. Abuse of privileges or refusal to abide by rules and policy are grounds for removal from the group.

== Organizers ==
==== Qualifications ====
Organizers are Maintainers who have been selected for a higher degree of responsibility and expectation, but are otherwise equal in general decision making power. Their primary focus is in organizing their fellow Maintainers in meetings and discussions, mediating disagreements and maintaining order, general administrative tasks, and to act as liaisons between the VRC Wiki volunteers and VRC staff. In all other regards they are themselves still considered Maintainers.
To qualify as an automoderated user, one should be an active user on the VRChat Wiki for at least a week, with several quality contributions and no major infractions. This can be appointed by a Maintainer, so long as there are no reasonable objections from other Maintainers.
=== Qualifications ===

In order to maintain balance and effectiveness in the position, the desired number of Organizers should be three. When there's a vacancy, Organizers should be chosen by consensus of the Maintainers from the pool of Maintainers. Candidates should have demonstrated a consistent degree of active involvement and investment in wiki contributions and discussions. They should not have any major infractions, and no major substantial objections from Maintainers. VRC Staff have veto power.

=== Proofreaders ===
Organizers should be reasonably active in wiki contributions, discussions, and moderation abilities, and to attend/oversee/guide meetings. They should be diligent to resolve disputes and to communicate between the VRC Wiki team and VRC Staff when necessary, and keep up with the unique administrative tasks entrusted to them. As a volunteer position there are no explicit minimums, but given their unique role and responsibilities should generally be as if not more involved and active than the already reasonable expectations for Maintainers. After a period of a month of unannounced absence, the Organizer may be approached by fellow Organizers to see if they're still interested in upholding the role. If not, or if there's no response or no change is seen over the following week, they may be moved back to Maintainer. Abuse of privileges or refusal to abide by rules and policy are grounds for removal from the group, and any concerns can be collectively discussed by Maintainers and brought to VRC Staff for their decision and intervention.

(This page outlines different roles and responsibilities, established for users on the VRChat Wiki. For roles involving Groups, please also see Group roles and permissions.)

There are several roles involved in the oversight and production of the VRChat Wiki. This article defines roles, responsibilities, as well as the qualifications for receiving them and the expectations once granted.

User permissions

There are special roles for editors that can be granted via unanimous decision by the VRChat Wiki team. These currently include automoderated users, and/or proofreaders.

Automoderated users

Automoderated users are users who have shown their investment in the VRChat Wiki, and displayed trustworthiness through consistently adding to the VRCWiki while following policies and guidelines. They are specifically selected to have their additions or edits automatically approved in the Official namespace - these pages are official VRChat information pages. Otherwise, users who are automoderated do not have any moderation capabilities, or further Wiki responsibilities.

Qualifications

To qualify as an automoderated user, one should be an active user on the VRChat Wiki for at least a week, with several quality contributions and no major infractions. This can be appointed by a Maintainer, so long as there are no reasonable objections from other Maintainers.

Responsibilities and expectations

Like all users, automoderated users should continue to follow all VRCWiki policies. Violating policies consistently, or not following the VRCWiki:Manual of Style may lead to these privileges being revoked temporarily.

Proofreaders

Proofreaders are trusted with translation efforts on articles written in different languages from English, and can help guide other editors localizing articles in their language.

Qualifications

The proofreader role is assigned if they are already established with the "Proofreader" role on VRChat's Localization community for Crowdin. New proofreaders may be established by consistently publishing quality edits for their known language(s).

Responsibilities and expectations

Like all users, proofreaders should continue to follow all VRCWiki policies. Translations should be accurate and originally based from English publication of an article, while continuing to follow the VRCWiki:Manual of Style. When an article or page is marked ready for translation, a proofreader will then be able to make a full translation of the assigned pages.

If a page is not yet ready marked for translation, they should help to improve on the English article first.

VRChat Wiki team

The VRChat Wiki team are volunteers, who are assigned by the VRChat Wiki administrators (in other words, VRChat's developers) to proactively assist in the oversight and upkeep of the VRChat Wiki.

Maintainers

Maintainers have a high degree of expectation and responsibility, being part of the VRChat Wiki team.

Qualifications

Maintainers must demonstrate a consistent and active investment in the VRChat Wiki, both in direct contributions on pages, as well as in discussions on Talk pages or community forums, and be present in the VRChat Wiki Discord server. They should be exemplary in their dedication to keeping with all policies, and holding trustworthiness and responsibility. Maintainers should not have any major infractions, and no major substantial objections from the current VRChat Wiki team. Employees of VRChat, Inc. have veto power for approval of a new maintainer.

Responsibilities and expectations

Maintainers are able to add, edit, and delete in almost all content spaces, and protect pages. Users with this role can approve, reject, or modify edits by users requiring moderation intervention. Maintainers help to resolve user disputes on Talk pages, as well as being able to roll back or revert edits made by a user. In addition, maintainers can moderate users for misconduct. They are also involved in the decision-making process for determining VRChat Wiki policies, and nominating persons for automoderated user, proofreader, and maintainer roles.

Maintainers should remain reasonably active on the Wiki, both in contributions and moderation responsibilities. Users with this role should be involved by attending, and contributing to as most meetings as possible, when held. Abuse of privileges, or refusal to abide by established guidelines and policies, are grounds for removal from the VRChat Wiki team, and finalized by the Wiki administrators.

As a volunteer position, there's no explicit minimums or quotas given, but after general inactivity or unannounced absence for a period approximately two months or longer, the maintainer may be approached by an organizer to see if they're still interested in upholding the role. If not, or if there's no response, or no change is seen over the following two weeks, they may be removed from the position. Former maintainers who request to return after a prolonged period of voluntary or involuntary activity may return to their role, unless there's a major substantial objection taken into consideration, or if a Wiki Administrator vetoes.

Organizers

Organizers are maintainers who display high levels of experience with MediaWiki policies and its environment, and have been trusted for a higher degree of responsibility and expectation, but otherwise have equal leverage in decision-making.

Qualifications

Candidates should have demonstrated a consistent degree of active involvement and investment in discussions regarding the VRChat Wiki, and policies. They should not have any major infractions, and no major substantial objections from anyone on the VRChat Wiki team. Wiki Administrators may veto their promotion. There should be typically three active users with the Organizer role at a time, to balance effectiveness with the position. When there's vacancy or inactivity, any new organizers should be chosen by unanimous consensus of the maintainers on the VRChat Wiki team, as well as the other organizers.

Responsibilities and expectations

Users with this role, act as liaisons between the VRChat Wiki team (volunteers), and Wiki administration (VRChat developers). Organizers are responsible for creating, attending, and keeping up with meetings and discussions, as well as intervening and resolving any disputes within the VRChat Wiki team environment; help to manage the VRChat Wiki team by checking in with inactive Maintainers, or sanction them for policy violations, and to perform the administrative functions entrusted to them.

Organizers should be reasonably active in Wiki contributions, discussions to attend, oversee, guide meetings. They should be diligent to resolve disputes, and to communicate between the VRChat Wiki team, and Wiki administration when necessary.

As a volunteer position, there are no explicit minimums, but given their unique role and responsibilities, should generally be more involved than the already reasonable expectations assigned for maintainers. Abuse of privileges, or refusal to abide by established guidelines and policies, are grounds for removal from the VRChat Wiki team, and finalized by the Wiki administrators.
