Introduced in the Identity Update, user profiles are a personalized space where information is displayed about a user. Information on a user's profile includes status; trust rank; bio; current instance (if applicable); languages they speak; social links; badges they own; and the groups they're in.

Friending
Under a user's profile, there are several actions you can take - such as sending a friend request or an invite to an instance.
Friending a user on VRChat will send them a request they can either accept or decline. When added as a friend, a user can send invites to their instance to friends or request to join a friend's instance.

Statuses
Statuses can be set in the Quick Menu, Main Menu, or on the https://vrchat.com/home and are used for the following: to control how easily a user's friends can join their instance; to vary whether a user's friends can see the instance they are currently in; to silence notifications; and to communicate an activity.

Booping
Statuses consist of a color and a customizable short sentence (up to 32 characters). There are four different statuses in VRChat:

Booping is an upcoming social feature allowing friends to send “boops” to each other. This can be attached with any emoji, including custom ones using VRC+. When the recipient of a boop opens their notifications, they'll be subject to a “Boop Explosion,” a blast of the emoji from the boop! Boop recipients will also receive a push notification from the VRChat app on mobile devices. Boops can only be sent to friends.

It is written and maintained by VRCWiki Team.

VRChat comes with a whole host of social tools for users. Such as friends, invites, notes, and more!

User Profiles

VRChat's User Profile.

Introduced in the Identity Update, user profiles are a personalized space where information is displayed about a user. Information on a user's profile includes status; trust rank; bio; current instance (if applicable); languages they speak; social links; badges they own; and the groups they're in.

Under a user's profile, there are several actions you can take - such as sending a friend request or an invite to an instance.

Statuses

Statuses can be set in the Quick Menu, Main Menu, or on the Official VRChat source VRChat Website and are used for the following: to control how easily a user's friends can join their instance; to vary whether a user's friends can see the instance they are currently in; to silence notifications; and to communicate an activity.

Statuses consist of a color and a customizable short sentence (up to 32 characters). There are four different statuses in VRChat:

Status Description
Join Me (Blue)
Your friends can see the instance you are in and may join freely with identical rules to Online status. However, if the instance is private and unviewable, all invite requests from friends are automatically accepted as long as you have permission to accept them.
Online (Green)
Your friends can see the instance you are in and can join your instance without an invitation. However, your friends may not see or join the instance without an invite if the instance is deemed "private".

Your instance is viewable and joinable by friends without requesting an invite in the following cases:

 • The instance is Friends+, Group+, Public, or Group Public.
 • The instance is Friends and either you or a mutual friend are the instance creator.
 • The instance is Group and your friends are a member of the group with permission to join the instance based on their group roles.
 • The instance is Invite or Invite+ and your friends are returning to the instance they created.
Ask Me (Orange)
Your friends cannot see the instance you are in. They must request an invite from you to be able to join, regardless of the instance's privacy.
Do Not Disturb (Red)
Your friends cannot see the instance you are in. They may request to join, but you will not receive any notifications.1

1 In fact, you won't be able to send or request any invites to your friends within the game if they are in that status.

Bio

The bio (abbreviation for biography) is a paragraph of text written by the user that is generally used to describe or introduce themselves but can be used for any purpose. The bio can be up to 500 characters long.

Currently, emoji and some special symbols(e.g. fractions) are not supported. Some known special characters that are allowed are:
