The following was created by the community. It may contain material not directly endorsed by the VRChat team. To learn more, consider reading Contributing to the VRChat Wiki.

Leaks are potential unreleased or unannounced features or information found through various credible or non-credible means, such as the VRChat API or platforms like Crowdin. Anything on this page should be taken with a grain of salt; just because something is on this page, does not confirm that it is something that will be added in the future.

Leaks will typically be removed from this page when they are either confirmed (through being given an applicable testing branch on Open Beta, or being fully released) then after receiving an article on the VRChat Wiki, or assigned within the proper existing articles; or removed after being denied through official VRChat sources.

Leaks

Badges

These are badges that have been discovered.

Name Description Introduced Requirements
TBA World Explorer[1] TBA TBA Challenge Completed: When a player visit X number of worlds.[2]
TBA TBA TBA TBA Complete an invite-only survey. Opt-In for the Badge. Survey window closed.[3]

Challenges

A feature which lets you complete challenges[4][5]. First discovery on December 13, 2024. Last new discovery on December 16, 2024. This feature is not yet accessible to all users, and seems to only be available for some VRChat accounts.

Challenges:

  • Make X Friends[6]
  • Visit X Friends[7]
  • Visit X Worlds[2]
  • Try VRChat on Another Platform[8]
  • Log in X Days in a Row[9]

Instance avatar performance requirements

A new group permission on the website in group role settings has been spotted:

Bypass Avatar Performance Requirements

Allows role to join group instances that have a minimum avatar performance requirement, regardless of their avatar's performance rating.

This seems to suggest a feature might be implemented in the future allowing instances to have a minimum avatar performance requirement set in place.

Mentioned

Mentioned features are featured that have been talked about, or shared publicly by VRChat staff. These features could be worked on, but seem to have no implementation yet.

New Character Controller for Worlds

A long-running request proposes a replacement world character controller with better moving platform support, smoother stairs and slopes, improved unstuck behavior, collider push interaction, and broader Udon control.[10] The thread is currently marked interested. A staff update on the post says work is currently halted while other projects are prioritized, with a note that updates will be shared if the item re-enters the roadmap.[10] In March 2026 community discussion, a former VRChat employee allegedly involved with this work claimed they were the only person assigned to it before early-2025 layoffs, and that the feature had been close to shipping.

Expose VRC+ Status to Udon

This request proposes exposing VRC+ subscription status to Udon for world-side logic and feature gating.[11] The thread is currently marked in progress. A staff comment links this item to Developer Update 5 March 2026 where the feature was announced.[11]

Age verification rollout

The team stated in a livestream in March 2026 that there is no public timeline for broad rollout beyond VRC+, while aiming for the most accessible and low-cost path possible.

OSC: Output for Haptics

A milestone created in 2022 on the VRChat Community OSC GitHub repository proposes streaming OSC data representing touches or collisions with avatars to interface with haptic devices.[12]

OSC: Udon

A milestone created in 2022 on the VRChat Community OSC GitHub repository plans to enable Udon to read and write OSC data for use in VRChat worlds.[12]

Unity 6

Answering the message of a user asking if VRChat is planning to upgrade to Unity 6, a developper answered with a positive message, stating it is currently being worked on.[13]

Render pipeline migration (URP/HDRP)

Community discussion periodically suggests migrating VRChat from Unity's Built-in Render Pipeline (BiRP) to URP or HDRP. As of March 2026, no official release announcement or Open Beta plan has been published for a migration of this scope. Recent staff commentary only indicates long-term internal planning tied to BiRP deprecation, without concrete deliverables or timelines.

Scrapped

ToxMod

ToxMod is an AI-assisted voice chat moderation product made by Modulate, intended to detect and flag toxic or abusive voice behavior.

In 2022 ToxMod got partially integrated. VRChat later stated that the team had previously been in discussions with Modulate, and that VRChat was inadvertently listed as a ToxMod customer[14], but that VRChat has no current or future plans to implement ToxMod[15].

Portal UI refresh

In the 2 February 2023 Developer Update[16], VRChat previewed a refreshed portal user interface and described it as "coming soon". The preview showed updated instance display styling and a banner for portals that lead to Group instances.

This design was ultimately scrapped and replaced with the current design of portals which was released with 2024.3.1, first previewed in the 25 July 2024 Developer Update.[17]
