Idle Merchant (掛機商人) is a PC-only idle game world created by turbo-.[1] Players open cases for random equipment, sell it on a simulated market, and hire a hero for idle combat.

Layout

The world is a furnished interior with a bed, a visitor information board, and QvPen pens. A VizVid video player and switches for mirrors, audio, video, colliders, post-processing, and a night-mode slider sit on the walls.

The game UI is a large canvas with pages for cases, the item catalog, inventory, sell orders, a cashier counter, idle battle, fusion contracts, reforge, player-to-player transfers, settings, Q&A, and a Developer Page. A separate leaderboard canvas stands in the room. An in-world changelog lists version notes.

The Developer Page is a digit pad. 30919 is the tester code. It only works if the player's display name is on a tester list. 70486 unlocks a debug panel that can reset that player's saved data.

The interface language defaults to Traditional Chinese. Players can switch to Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or English.

Gameplay

Progress saves with Persistence. A settings panel shows storage use and can reset saved progress. Starting money is 0. Inventory holds 200 items. Sell orders hold 50 listings.

A tutorial can run on first play and can be restarted from settings.

Cases

There are five cases. Each open gives one random item from that case. Ten free opens refresh each day. After that, an open costs money.

Auto-open can collect or stop when a gold item appears, collect or stop on red or gold, or send the item into a fusion contract.

Every item name always uses the same color. Crude Iron Sword is always blue. Mithril Sword is always red. An open first picks a color, then picks one item from that case in that color. The color odds are blue 70%, purple 25%, pink 4%, red 0.8%, and gold 0.2%.

Icon Case Required level Cost EXP per open
Beginner Forge Case 1 100 25
Adventurer Expedition Case 20 250 30
Royal Treasury Case 40 650 75
Elemental Ruins Case 60 1,800 420
Void End Case 80 5,000 680

Stats and passives

Each item shows Attack and Attack speed as two numbers. The left number is the standard value for that item. The right number is a random offset from it. The catalog lists the lowest and highest each stat can be. The standard value sits in the middle of that range.

A new item can have 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 passives. Each count is equally likely. 99.2% of rolled passives are ordinary. 0.8% are rare. 40% of ordinary passives are negative. Rare passives raise the suggested sale price. That price is the reference value, scaled by the two stat bonuses and the passives.

Some items always carry one exclusive rare passive. That line cannot be reforged.

Helmets share passives with standard armor. Hats share passives with robes. Negative passives can appear on any item.

Inventory and market

Collected items go to the inventory. A red lock is a manual lock. A yellow lock means the item is equipped in idle battle. Locked items cannot be sold or fused. Players can showcase a weapon on the leaderboard, sell an item, or open a price chart. Sort arranges the bag by price.

Sell orders list asking prices on the market. Money can be transferred to another player after level 20.

A catalog page lists every item, its min and max stats, and its market chart.

Fusion

Fusion spends several items of one color to make one item of the next color. The spent items do not have to be the same name. They only have to share a color. Locked items cannot be spent.

Spent color Count Result color
Blue 20 Purple
Purple 20 Pink
Pink 15 Red
Red 10 Gold

Gold items cannot be fused.

The new item comes from the cases the spent items came from. It is always the next color. The name has to appear in one of those cases. Spending more items from one case makes that case's names more likely. If that case only has a few names in the next color, each of those names is more likely. Attack, attack speed, and passives are rolled again. They are not copied from the spent items.

Reforge

Reforge spends money to reroll stats or passives. Later cases and rarer colors cost more. Exclusive rare passives cannot be reforged. Reforging an empty passive slot is a paid world-store unlock. An item that is not in any case uses the Beginner Forge Case prices.

Passive reforge cost:

Case Blue Purple Pink Red Gold
Beginner Forge Case 100 300 1,800 5,000 25,000
Adventurer Expedition Case 125 375 2,100 6,500 30,500
Royal Treasury Case 150 450 2,400 8,000 36,000
Elemental Ruins Case 175 525 2,700 9,500 41,500
Void End Case 200 600 3,000 11,000 47,000

Idle battle

Players hire one hero class and can switch later. Auto expedition sends the hero through a region. Each kill spends one Harvest. Harvested kills drop extra money and EXP. Harvest count resets daily. A boss appears after a set number of fights. The next region unlocks after that region's boss.

Heroes equip a weapon, helmet or hat, armor or robe, and accessory. Appearance can be set separately from equipped stats. The class table lists the preferred weapon and armor types.

Icon Class Preferred gear
Swordsman Melee weapons and normal armor
Archer Ranged weapons and normal armor
Wizard Staves and magic armor

The four regions are Wild Frontier, Skeleton Gravefield, Orc Battlefield, and Shadow Kingdom. Each also has a Normal and a Hard difficulty. Each region has five monsters. The fifth is the boss. On the first difficulty those bosses are Wild Bear King, Grave Necromancer King, Orc Rider King, and Shadow Knight King.

Employees and cashier

A cashier counter sells items in a minigame. Employees can be hired and upgraded. They take a commission and have a remaining-jobs counter.

Employee Required level Cost
Trainee Employee 1 0
Regular Employee 10 2,500
Skilled Employee 20 7,500
Professional Employee 35 15,000
Elite Employee 50 30,000
Master Employee 70 60,000
Legendary Employee 90 120,000

Leaderboard

The board ranks players by the total current market value of items in the inventory. Money on hand is not counted. Cards can show a showcased weapon, player level, and a background pattern. Free patterns include stars, pentagons, Diagonal 1, scattered shapes, warning, wave, ocean wave, morphing ball, crystal, clouds, hearts, skulls, puzzle, chains, flags, and floral. Graffiti Pattern and Mysterious Letters Pattern unlock from the world store.

World store

The world is enrolled in the Creator Economy. The world store sells these listings for VRChat Credits:

  • Reforge Empty Passives (新增空詞條), 299 credits, permanent. Unlocks reforging an empty passive slot.
  • Tipper 1 (贊助者 1), 100 credits, permanent. Unlocks Graffiti Pattern and Mysterious Letters Pattern on the leaderboard.
  • Tip (贊助), 100 credits. Nothing.

The catalog lists every item. Attack and attack speed roll in the ranges below. A dash under Case means the item does not appear in any case. Color is fixed for that item.
