On March 21, 2022, VRChat announced the Joke Jam world jam, which give creators a week to make a world using a jam-specific Bop System. This Bop System would track the total amount of "bops" users made, per world. This Bop System was an alpha test of Udon Analytics; an analytics system for creators.

The theme of this jam was "jokes" and submissions coincidentally ended on April 1st. On the same day, a Joke Jam world row went live.

VRRat Community Takeover

Many worlds were "taken over" by VRRat. Worlds included in VRRat's Community Takeover were selected as apart of a closed community intiative.[2] There were a total of 60 worlds with the admin_vrrat_community_takeover tag. The world row showcasing the worlds went live on April 1st at 2PM UTC [3] [4] and ended on April 14th.

On April 1, 2026, VRChat teased an upcoming surprise with a bee emoji. The following day, VRChat described a "Bee Blaster" item for VRC+ subscribers as "our final April Fool's Day surprise."[8]

On April 1, 2026, VRChat held a surprise April Fool's Dev Stream at 3:00 pm PT and said there would be no regular stream that Friday.[9] A VOD of the stream is available on Twitch.
