2022

Joke Jam

On March 21, 2022, VRChat announced the Joke Jam world jam, which give creators a week to make a world using a jam-specific Bop System. This Bop System would track the total amount of "bops" users made, per world. This Bop System was an alpha test of Udon Analytics; an analytics system for creators.

The theme of this jam was "jokes" and submissions coincidentally ended on April 1st. On the same day, a Joke Jam world row went live.

2024 April Fools day video.

For April Fools 2024, VRChat released a video introducing new clock features on the Quick Menu. This clock menu adds a bunch of non-standard and less than useful clocks and time formats.

The VRChat Home was updated to include a spinning cheese with VRRat walking on it, and posters of VRRat.

VRRat Community Takeover

Many worlds were "taken over" by VRRat. Worlds included in VRRat's Community Takeover were selected as apart of a closed community intiative. There were a total of 60 worlds with the admin_vrrat_community_takeover tag. The world row showcasing the worlds went live on April 1st at 2PM UTC and ended on April 14th.

VRC+ Quick Menu mascot swap

VRRat has replaced clickable VRCat with himself. Clicking VRRat multiple times will cause his own unique dialogue to appear. VRRat also has his own unique graphic for earmuff mode, and the back face of the Quick Menu.

VRRat hijacked the Early Supporter badge, by replacing VRCat with versions of himself.

Skip Leg Day

In the Action Menu, under Tools, a "Skip Leg Day" toggle was added. Enabling the toggle will remove the legs on all avatars present in the instance, including the local user.

Touch Grass world row

Touch some grass. There are a total of 36 worlds with the admin_touch_grass tag. The world row showcasing the worlds went live on April 1st at 5PM UTC and ends on April 6th at 10PM PT. This April Fools joke was mirrored by the VRChat Wiki.

ChadRat and ChadWorX avatars

On April 1, 2026, VRChat published two public avatars created by Tig~ ৻Ignis as part of its April Fool's Day promotions: ChadRat ([98] ), originally created in 2025, and ChadWorX ([99] ), created in 2026.

Bee Blaster VRC+ item

On April 1, 2026, VRChat teased an upcoming surprise with a bee emoji. The following day, VRChat described a "Bee Blaster" item for VRC+ subscribers as "our final April Fool's Day surprise."

April Fool's Dev Stream

On April 1, 2026, VRChat held a surprise April Fool's Dev Stream at 3:00 pm PT and said there would be no regular stream that Friday. A VOD of the stream is available on Twitch.
